1951 Chevrolet 3100 Classic Audio Upgrade

Some classic trucks are restored to perfection. Others proudly wear every mile of their history. This 1951 Chevrolet 3100 falls into the second category, and our goal was to modernize the audio system without changing the truck's unmistakable character.

We installed a RetroSound stereo that fits the factory dash, maintaining the original appearance while adding modern conveniences like Bluetooth streaming, hands-free calling, USB connectivity, and improved audio performance. At first glance, the dashboard still looks period-correct, but behind the scenes it's equipped with today's technology.

The original speakers were mounted behind the seat, where the sound struggled to reach the driver and passenger. To dramatically improve the listening experience, we relocated the front stage by installing a set of Hertz speakers behind a factory dashboard opening. Hidden from view, they provide crisp highs, fuller midrange, and much clearer sound while preserving the truck's original interior.

The finished installation blends seamlessly into the truck, allowing the owner to enjoy modern music and connectivity without sacrificing the authentic look that makes this Chevrolet so special. Whether it's cruising local back roads or attending a weekend truck show, this 3100 now sounds every bit as good as it looks.
