The Story

Classic trucks deserve audio systems that complement their history instead of taking away from it. This beautiful 1966 GMC pickup came to Sound Connection looking for a modern audio upgrade that would improve every drive while keeping the interior true to its original roots.

We installed a RetroSound stereo, giving the truck the appearance of a factory radio while adding today's most popular features, including Bluetooth streaming, hands-free calling, USB connectivity, and improved audio performance. The classic dash remains untouched, preserving the timeless look that makes these trucks so iconic.

To dramatically improve the listening experience, we added a set of custom kick panels fitted with Kenwood speakers. This placement provides a much stronger front soundstage than the original speaker locations while remaining clean and unobtrusive. The result is crisp highs, detailed midrange, and a balanced listening experience that makes every cruise more enjoyable.

The finished installation perfectly blends old and new. From the outside, this GMC still looks like the classic truck it has always been. Inside, however, it delivers the convenience and sound quality expected from a modern vehicle.

At Sound Connection, we've had the privilege of modernizing countless classic cars and trucks. Every project is approached with the same philosophy: preserve the heritage, improve the experience, and make the technology disappear.
