1977 LS-Swapped Jeep CJ-7 Custom Audio Build

This 1977 LS-swapped Jeep CJ-7 came into our Brainerd shop ready for an audio system that matched the rest of the build. The outdated single-DIN radio was removed and replaced with a Kenwood KMM-705 digital media receiver, bringing modern Bluetooth connectivity and improved sound quality to this classic Jeep.

To create a system capable of keeping up with open-air driving, we loaded the customer-supplied center pod and overhead enclosure with multiple Rockford Fosgate TMS14-65 speakers. Low-end performance comes from a custom-built enclosure housing a pair of Rockford Fosgate M2-D210 marine subwoofers, providing deep, powerful bass while using components designed to withstand the elements.

Powering the entire system are two Rockford Fosgate M5-800X4 amplifiers mounted to a custom-designed amplifier rack that bolts directly into existing firewall mounting locations. The clean installation keeps everything secure while maintaining a professional, factory-quality appearance.

While the Jeep was in the shop, we also upgraded the lighting with a set of 20Twenty Lighting LED fog lights and installed an electric train horn—because an LS-swapped CJ-7 deserves a horn that's just as memorable as the rest of the build.

The finished result is a classic Jeep that sounds every bit as impressive as it looks, delivering powerful, crystal-clear audio that's ready for trail rides, cruises, and everything in between.
