1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Audio System Upgrade

The Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z defined performance for an entire generation, and now this 1986 model has an audio system to match its legendary reputation.

The goal was to modernize the factory sound system without taking away from the character that makes the IROC-Z such an icon. We started by installing a Kenwood KMM-X705 Bluetooth digital media receiver, bringing modern features like Bluetooth streaming, hands-free calling, USB connectivity, and high-resolution audio support to the classic interior.

To improve clarity throughout the cabin, we replaced the factory speakers with Kenwood KFC-4675C 4x6-inch dash speakers and Kenwood KFC-X694 6x9-inch rear deck speakers. Together, they provide crisp highs, detailed vocals, and balanced midrange performance that dramatically outperform the original equipment.

Powering the entire system is a Kenwood KAC-M5014 four-channel amplifier, supplying clean, efficient power that allows every speaker to perform at its full potential. The result is noticeably greater output, improved dynamics, and the kind of sound quality that makes every drive more enjoyable.

The finished installation brings this classic IROC-Z into the modern era without losing its unmistakable personality. Whether cruising Main Street, heading to a local car show, or stretching its legs on the open highway, this Camaro now delivers premium audio performance worthy of one of Chevrolet's most iconic muscle cars.
