1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 Speaker Upgrade

The fourth-generation Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is an icon of American performance, but like many vehicles from the late '90s, the factory speakers struggle to deliver the sound quality today's drivers expect. This Trans Am came to Sound Connection looking for an upgrade that would improve the listening experience without changing the car's classic interior.

We installed a pair of Audison SV 165 NEO 6.5-inch speakers, known for their high sensitivity, impressive output, and exceptional clarity. These speakers provide a significant improvement over the factory drivers, delivering crisp vocals, detailed instruments, and powerful midbass that can keep up with spirited driving.

To maximize performance, we also treated the speaker mounting area with MDMSK acoustic sealing material and installed FAST Speaker Rings. Together, these upgrades create a better acoustic seal between the speaker and the door panel, reducing unwanted sound cancellation and directing more of the speaker's output into the cabin. The result is tighter midbass, improved efficiency, and noticeably cleaner sound.

The finished system proves that a properly engineered speaker upgrade is about much more than simply replacing factory components. By combining premium speakers with proven acoustic treatments, this 1999 Trans Am now delivers the kind of performance that complements the excitement of driving one of Pontiac's most legendary muscle cars.
