2024 Ford Bronco Heritage Edition Premium Audio Upgrade

The Heritage Edition Bronco has all the retro style you could ask for, but the base factory audio system—especially the factory "subwoofer"—leaves plenty to be desired. This owner wanted premium sound quality without sacrificing the Bronco's functionality or clean interior.

We started by replacing every major audio component with Kenwood's Excelon Reference (XR) Series. Up front, we installed XR-1701P component speakers, utilizing the factory dash locations for the tweeters to maintain an OEM appearance while dramatically improving clarity and imaging. In the rear, a pair of XR-1701 coaxial speakers were mounted in Metra Bronco rear pods, creating a balanced soundstage for every passenger.

Power comes from a Kenwood XR901-5 five-channel amplifier mounted neatly beneath the driver's seat, providing clean, efficient power to the entire system while keeping the installation hidden and protected.

For bass, we installed a Stinger Off-Road tailgate enclosure loaded with an AudioControl 12-inch subwoofer. The tailgate-mounted design preserves valuable cargo space while delivering the deep, controlled low-end response that the factory system simply can't produce.

To get the absolute best performance from the factory radio, we used FORScan to reconfigure the OEM audio processor by enabling a flat EQ and disabling the factory speaker crossovers. This allows the aftermarket amplifier and speakers to receive a clean, full-range signal, giving us complete control during tuning and ensuring the new system performs exactly as it was designed.

The finished result is a Bronco that finally sounds as good as it looks. Crisp highs, detailed mids, tight, powerful bass, and seamless factory integration make this Heritage Edition a pleasure to drive whether the roof is on, the doors are off, or you're heading down the trail.
