Behind the Build

The Story

The factory audio system in this 2025 Chevy Equinox ACTIV left plenty of room for improvement, so the goal was to deliver a dramatic upgrade while keeping the vehicle looking completely factory.

We replaced the factory speakers with a combination of Rockford Fosgate Punch front and rear speakers, powered everything with an Audison 6-channel amplifier running fully active, and used a Hertz S8 DSP to precisely tune every speaker for maximum clarity, imaging, and balance. To round out the system, a Rockford Fosgate P300-10 powered subwoofer adds deep, controlled bass that blends seamlessly with the rest of the system.

To get the most performance from the speakers, we also treated the doors with SoundSkins to reduce vibration and improve midbass response, resulting in a cleaner, more refined listening experience.

The installation was finished with a custom carpeted equipment rack in the cargo area, securely mounting the amplifier and DSP while keeping everything protected, organized, and looking like it belongs there from the factory.

The end result is a system that delivers crisp highs, powerful midbass, and deep bass without sacrificing cargo space or the clean OEM appearance of the vehicle.
