2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison Overland Build

The best adventures usually begin where the pavement ends. This 2019 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison came to Sound Connection with one goal—to become a capable overland rig that's ready for weekends off the grid and whatever the trail throws its way.

To improve visibility on dark trails, we installed Rough Country A-pillar pod lights, a 20-inch Rough Country LED light bar mounted in the front bumper, and a pair of Rigid Industries cube lights integrated into the rear bumper. Whether navigating narrow forest roads or setting up camp after sunset, the additional lighting provides confidence in every direction.

Managing multiple accessories is easy thanks to a Switch-Pros CAN Bus-controlled switch panel, neatly integrated into a replacement lower dash cubby panel for a clean, factory-inspired appearance. Behind the scenes, an ARB twin motor air compressor was mounted beneath the coolant reservoir using a 589 Fabrication mounting plate, making it easy to air tires back up after a day on the trails.

To make life away from civilization even easier, we added a Stinger 300-watt power inverter beneath the center console, providing convenient AC power for charging electronics and running small accessories. Tying everything together required extensive custom wiring to ensure every component operates reliably and cleanly.

The finished result is an overland-ready Colorado that's built for adventure. Whether it's exploring remote trails, spending the weekend at a secluded campsite, or simply getting away from it all, this ZR2 Bison is equipped with the tools and technology to make every trip more enjoyable.
